Science and Toys - learning about materials

We investigated which materials were the most suitable for providing a waterproof for our toys.  First we weighed the toy, then we wrapped them in different materials and put them in water for 1 minute each.  We then weighed the toy again and felt it to see if it was wet or dry. We had some surprising results.  The different plastics worked well, but so did the brown parcel paper and the cling film.  The worst material was the towel because it absorbed lots of water and the toy got very wet.  Even the wet suit couldn't keep the toy dry!
