  • Christian Distinctiveness

Inspired by God the Trinity and St Julian of Norwich, we have a vision to be an aspirational school that honours and celebrates each person. We work together to deliver excellence in learning so that our interests and talents can be nurtured for the benefit of the whole community. We are knit together by our shared values and we are rooted in hope for the future.

“All shall be well because we are knit together and rooted in hope”

Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School, a proud member of the Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust, works with dedication to nurture and sustain our strong Christian distinctiveness. Our Headteacher and Governing Body share a clear and ambitious vision for a school rooted in Christian values, shaping a community where every child feels valued, supported and inspired.

We enjoy a close relationship with the Lincoln Diocese, who provide guidance and high-quality professional development for leaders and staff across the curriculum. Each year, our Year 6 pupils are invited to the Lincoln Cathedral Leavers Service—an uplifting celebration that marks an important milestone in their journey with us.

Daily worship at Holy Trinity is built around our Christian Values and is designed to help children reflect, grow, and develop spiritually. We also explore a broader range of faiths, beliefs and cultures, helping our pupils develop respect, empathy and understanding of the diverse world around them. Our partnership with Holy Trinity Church, Tattershall is central to school life. Reverend Sally, Padres and the Open the Book Team join us regularly, enriching Collective Worship and deepening our connection to faith.

Our Collective Worship council, help to plan and lead one collective worship or church service each term, such as our Harvest Festival, Christingle Service or Easter Service.

Picture books are used termly, which are linked to each value, with stories that help promote the nine, protected characteristics and British Values. The children and staff love these and the books  remain on display in the hall for the term and are then added to the school library.

We also actively explore British Values and the Protected Characteristics, ensuring that every child grows as a compassionate, responsible citizen who celebrates difference and stands up for fairness and equality.

Through platforms such as Lyfta, children gain first-hand insight into life around the globe, helping them appreciate the richness of our world and understand their place within it.

    Religious Education

At Holy Trinity, Religious Education (RE) is taught using the Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus and is enriched by our distinctive Christian vision. Inspired by God the Trinity and the teachings of St Julian of Norwich, our curriculum is aspirational, inclusive and rooted in hope.

We seek to honour and celebrate the uniqueness of every individual by providing a broad, ambitious and carefully sequenced curriculum. Through RE, pupils are encouraged to explore religion, belief and worldviews in ways that enable them to flourish academically, socially, spiritually and emotionally.

Our RE curriculum helps pupils to:

    • Develop a deep understanding of Christianity as a living faith.
    • Learn about a range of religions and worldviews.
    • Ask thoughtful questions about meaning, purpose and belief.
    • Reflect on their own values and experiences.
    • Develop respect, empathy and understanding for others in our diverse society.

We deliver RE in accordance with the Church of England Education Office's Statement of Entitlement for Church Schools. We also take account of the Ofsted Religious Education Research Review (2021), the National Content Standard for Religious Education (2023) and the Ofsted Religious Education Subject Report, Deep and Meaningful (2024) to ensure that our curriculum remains ambitious, rigorous and relevant.

    Withdrawal from Religious Education

We recognise the legal right of parents and carers to withdraw their child, either wholly or partly, from Religious Education lessons. Teachers also have the right to withdraw from teaching the subject. Parents, carers and teachers are not required to provide a reason for their decision.

If you wish to discuss withdrawal from RE or make a request, please contact the school office at:

    enquiries@holytrinity.laat.co.uk

We are always happy to meet with parents and carers to discuss the nature and content of our RE curriculum and answer any questions they may have.

    Reserved Teachers

    What is a Reserved Teacher?

    • Section 58 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 requires the appointment in Voluntary controlled (VC) schools, or an academy that was previously a VC school, of teachers who are able to provide religious education in accordance with the requirements of the Trust Deed of the school or in accordance with the tenets of the relevant religion or denomination.
    • Where the number of teachers at a foundation or voluntary-controlled school with a religious character is more than two, the teachers must include persons who are selected for their fitness and competence to teach religious education in accordance with the school’s trust deed or with the tenets of the school’s religion and are specifically appointed to do so.
    • These teachers are called Reserved Teachers.

    What is denominational religious education?

    • There is no definition in the Act of denominational religious education but in practice it means any religious education provided in accordance with the requirements of the Trust Deed of the school and that is not the Locally Agreed Syllabus. Reserved Teachers may of course teach the Agreed Syllabus but that is not the purpose of their status.

Why is the provision of denominational religious education required?

    • Because parents have the right to request it. The norm in VC Church of England schools is that RE is provided according to the Locally Agreed Syllabus. Reserved Teachers are not needed for this. However, parents may request denominational religious education and the governing body must make it available. Reserved Teachers are appointed in order that suitable persons are available should parents request this provision.

At Holy Trinity Church of England School, our Reserved Teachers are Mrs S Liley and Mrs B Brown (Executive Headteacher and Class Teacher)
