Special Places -A Hindu Shrine
For part of our current topic on special places in RE Maple class learnt about how Hindu people have a special place in their homes called a shrine where they can pray, which is called puja. The children all worked together to recreate a beautiful shrine and added handmade flowers and a flickering candle.
The children enjoyed tasting hot cross buns and learnt that Christians eat hot cross buns on Good Friday, the day Jesus died. The cross on top of the bun represents the cross that Jesus died on and the shape is like the stone door of the cave (tomb) that Jesus was buried in.
after tasting the buns the children drew pictures of the tomb and the buns.
