Reading Resource Update 30.3.20

Scholastic have kindly given free access to their range of online books, which link to the children's Lexiles. Children can now login to their usual Scholastic accounts and should see a new icon saying Reading Pro Library. Here they can choose books by Lexile level or author.

Happy Reading!

Reading at Home

We all know the importance of having access to good books. I know some of you will have bookshelves full at home, but if you follow the instructions below your child will have access to many more online books.

Epic have kindly allowed all children free access at this difficult time.

Pine Class are all set up ready to go. I may assign them suitable books to read from time to time (when things settle down a little!).

The website/app runs on the Lexile scheme we use in school.

I suggest that all pupils retake a Lexile test on Scholastic, then use their new Lexile level to help them choose. This will work exactly in the same way as the school library. They may even find that they can take a quiz at the end of Scholastic.

I am still working on getting them free access to ebooks on Scholastic, but am awaiting a reply.

How to get on Epic

Any problems please just send me an email and I'll try my best to sort them out!

Fancy some Poetry for a change?

If you want someone to read to you for a change here are some great video clips by famous poets to listen to. Great modelling of expressive reading.
