Rio Olympics Topic
As an exciting start to our Rio Olympic Topic we went to Barnes Wallis Academy on Monday morning. When we got there we had a presentation all about the Olympic games and it included a quiz. We found out lots of facts about how the games started, what the rings stand for and how many countries take part.
Then we went to the sports hall for our very own Olympic Opening Ceremony. We carried out a torch relay, a flag procession, lighting the flame in the arena and a medal ceremony too. We even sang the National Anthem.
A huge thank you to Barnes Wallis for helping us to have such a memorable start to the topic.
Torches and Mascots
We made our own Olympic torches using repeated patterns of sports equipment. We also researched the different Olympic mascots over the years and designed our own Oak Class or Holy Trinity mascots.
