ANIMAL UK WORKSHOP       12.3.18

Today we were lucky enough to have an animal experience with ANIMAL UK.

We met three incredibly interesting creatures that helped us practice our knowledge of animal groups, evolution and classification.

Daisy- The Tortoise

Daisy was a 12 year old tortoise from Africa. Her shell grows with her and is made from keratin. She is a reptile.

Angus- Lesser Tenrec

At first we all thought that Angus was a cute little hedgehog. Little did we know that he was a lesser Tenrec, who comes from Madagascar!

He eats insects and is a great climber.

Kiwi- the Burmese Python

Kiwi is a 3 yr old python. She comes from a group of animals called 'Squamata' (lizards and snakes).

Kiwi comes from South East Asia and is a constrictor.

Fossil Workshop March 7th 2018

Today we had a science workshop on  fossils and bones. We looked at bones from: crocodiles, an Ichthyosaur, Mosasaur and bears, otters and other fascinating creatures. We learned how animals have adapted to into many weird and wonderful creatures over millions of years!

Jules told us lots of information about Charles Darwin, who explains evolution through what he calls 'Natural Selection'.

Below is a slideshow of us using classification keys to identify fossils.

Ian Bland- Visiting Poet 24.1.18

Today we were extremely lucky to have Ian Bland a fantastic poet visit our school. We had an amazing assembly where we heard and joined in lots of Ian's poems, then each class had a workshop with Ian during the day. To complete the day we then performed some of our poems to the whole school and our parents.

Below are some of the videos of use rehearsing our poems in class. Videos of the end of day performances can be found on the video sharing platform.

Harvest Festival and our deliveries

This week we had a great time planning our harvest celebrations. We rehearsed poems and wrote prayers for the church service and then went to deliver all of Holy Trinity's Harvest gifts to the local community.

Thank you to everyone that brought in produce to share!
