Liquid Results!

We looked at the results of our egg experiment today. We looked at how the egg shells had changed from being left in different liquids. We noticed how the egg shell in the coke had really changed colour and the one in the water hadn't changed at all! The egg shell in the orange juice had gone really lumpy and covered in white bumps!

Plaque Disclosure Tablets

Today we have used plaque disclosure tablets to look at how well we clean our teeth! The blue colour shows old plaque and the red shows new plaque. We all thought about how we would clean our teeth in the future to make sure they are nice and clean and healthy!

Toothpaste Protection!

We've looked at the results from our Love2Investigate activity trying to decide whether or not toothpaste protects our teeth. We concluded that we left our eggs in the vinegar for a little bit too long! As the vinegar had started to erode the shell of the egg in both containers. However, the erosion was worse on the egg with no toothpaste on! 

Tweeting David Walliams!

We've been using Demon Dentist to learn how authors create suspense and some of us composed a tweet describing one of the illustrations. We had to only use 144 characters and make sure we used a variety of sentence lengths! Hopefully David will have time to read our description!

Let's Investigate!

We've left another set of eggs over the weekend to see how well toothpaste protects our teeth! We coated one egg in toothpaste and then left it overnight. We then rinsed our eggs and placed it in a cup full of vinegar. We placed an uncoated egg in a cup of vinegar next to it and we will compare the results after the weekend!

Demon Dentist!

In our English lessons, we have been using David Walliams' Demon Dentist to help us with our writing. We've used our senses to describe the Dentist Surgery of the evil Miss Root! We used drama to work out some of the things we might see, touch, taste and smell. We then used our mouths, body parts and items within reach to make soundscapes of the surgery! Can you work out what some of the noises are that we thought we'd hear?

What do different drinks do to the enamel of our teeth?

We set up our first fair test investigation of many this term! We want to see how the enamel of our teeth reacts to different types of drinks. We are learning about how to take care of our teeth and the importance of good dental health. We have left 4 hardboiled eggs in different liquids to see how they will react when left for a long period of time. We can't wait to see the results!
