English

This week in English we are looking at Labels and how important they are at getting across vital information. The children deed to know that labels can help us understand images or complex diagrams, for example of the human body. There is a Power point document in this section, please have a look at it and see if you can guess what the labels are describing. Can you label all the animals from the image at the end of it? When doing the label activities, think about how easy or difficult it might be to understand the parts of a picture without labels.

There are several activities I would also like you to complete.

  1. Draw a picture of yourself and see if you can add the following labels to it: Head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, hands, legs and feet.
  2. Take a picture of the outside of your house or garden, can you make labels to describe all the features of it? E.g. windows, doors, trees, flowers, letterbox.
  3. Finally get 5 to ten items from around the house. Make labels for them and then either take a picture of them set out with their labels or draw them with the labels attached.
