Observe a range of musical instruments, identifying the materials that they are made from and how the instruments produce their sounds. Find out how are they joined; how the sound is made; whether the instrument is solid or hollow and tuned or untuned and how it creates different notes. Make sketches or diagrams of three instruments, annotating the unique features of each one
Use a pair of headphones or ear muffs to investigate how sound proof different materials are. Find a range of materials at home and put them between the headphones and your ear. Ask someone to play some sound effects and see if you can hear it still.
