Willow Identified and labelled parts of the human body

Science focus for Spring term 1 is animals Including Humans – Senses. Today Willow class went outside to look for signs of winter and how the seasons change including length of day and common animals.

We have been grouping animals depending on their diet. We grouped them into Omnivore, carnivores and herbivore

Willow have been looking at common animals and identify what animal group they belong to.

This term in science we are learning all about animals including humans. We started by looking for signs of autumn and how the seasons change including the length of the day, then we started looking for common animals or signs that common animals have been in our school grounds.

As Holy Trinity Scientists we will:
Be identifying and naming a variety of materials such as wood, plastic, glass, metal, water, and rock. We will discuss the materials that an object is made from, before deciding which material would be suitable for a puppy’s bedding. We will also discuss which materials are better suited to different objects.

We have been exploring what item are made from and grouping them. We had lost of discussion over what group scissors should be put in as they were made from two types of material.

Children were given a selection of resources and asked to use them to think of an investigation they could carry out.

They has some cotton wool, newspaper, fabric, sponge a syringe and some water. After a lot of thinking and discussion the children came up with, Which materials are the most absorbent? Children then carried out a fair test and discovered that the cotton wool was the most absorbent, they then tested various materials from around the classroom such as tinfoil, wood and plastic
